about
Track Style:
Hard-driving vintage organ funk with Morfbeats percussion and inspired by the drumming style of Billy Martin.
Musical Influences:
Medeski, Martin & Wood
Origin of the Track:
Adam & Austin Morford are long-time friends with Mike Tallman and Matt Wright, all of whom are Iowa natives who have lived in Colorado for about 10 years. Their bands used to play together in Iowa City when they were in college, but they had never worked together to record. "Adam's Mustache Loves Billy Martin" was written by Adam who sent a home-made demo of the song to Mike years ago. When Color Red launched the group finally found a time to get together to record it along with several other original tunes. The tune is an ode to Adam Morford's friend and mentor Billy Martin, famed drummer of Medeski, Martin and Wood.
